Propamocarb hydrochloride is a carbamate ester that is the propyl ester of 3-(dimethylamino)propylcarbamic acid. It is a systemic fungicide, used (normally as the hydrochloride salt) for the control of soil, root, and leaf diseases caused by oomycetes, particularly Phytophthora and Pythium species.
It has a role as a xenobiotic, an environmental contaminant, and an antifungal agrochemical. It is a carbamate ester, a tertiary amino compound, and a carbamate fungicide. It is functionally related to a propan-1-ol.

Mode of action: Fungicide
Application:Specific control of phycomycetous diseases (Pythium, Phytophthora, Aphanomyces, Bremia, Peronospora, and Pseudoperonospora spp.). In particular, control of Pythium and Phytophthora spp.In vegetables, ornamentals, glasshouse tomatoes, glasshouse cucumbers, tulips, tobacco, and in forestry seedbeds; Pythium blight on turf; downy mildew on lettuce, cucurbits, and cabbages; Phytophthora infestans in potatoes and tomatoes; Phytophthora cactorum on strawberries; etc. Applied to the soil, or used as a dip treatment (for bulbs and tubers) or seed treatment, and as a foliar spray in late-season applications.
